Mobile Iron Ore Ship Loader for Iron Ore Ship Loading

Iron ore is the material used to produce steel. The main exporter of iron ore are Brazil, Australia, Chile, Russia, South Africa, Canada, etc. Among them, Australia and Brazil account for more than 30% of the global iron ore export share. Transnational iron ore trade requires a large number of iron ore ship loaders. Here we will talk about iron ore ship loader and iron ore loading.

Types of Iron Ore Materials

Iron ores are rocks and minerals from which metallic iron can be economically extracted. The ores are usually rich in iron oxides and vary in color from dark grey, bright yellow, deep purple, to rusty red. The iron ore ship loading mainly load the following iron ores.

  • ROM: Raw ore, which is the ore from the mine, has no specific grade;
  • Fines: crushed and screened iron ore (less than 6 mm).
  • Sinter Ore: pellets processed from iron ore fined;
  • Lump: Larger pieces of ore (10mm~40mm);
  • Concentrate: refined iron ore with most of the waste removed.

Most iron ore is shipped by Panamax , Capesize and Handysize. During short-distance water transport, the barge and coaster are commonly used.

Precautions of Iron Ore Ship Loading

The density of iron ore is very high, which will have a considerable impact on the ship during the loading process, and will also reduce the effective loading volume of the ship. Iron ore Bulk density ( Kg/m3) is between 1250 and 3448. Stowage Factor (m3/t) is between 0.29 to 0.80.

  • The trimming of cargoes is needed to distributes the material evenly , although their angles of repose are mostly higher than 35°.
  • The iron ore stowage factor is between 0.24-0.80m³/tone. The loaded ship need has sufficient strength to carry certain iron ores.
  • The use of conveyor belts and grabs to load iron ore will generate a large amount of dust, and the use of ship loaders to load ships requires a dust removal device.
  • The moisture content of the iron ore needs to be checked before shipment and if the exact moisture content is unknown, appropriate laboratory testing may be required.

Stationary or Mobile Ship Loader

Loading of iron ore is usually carried out by pouring the cargo into the middle of the cargo hold, forming a pile with a gradually wider bottom. While many terminals still have stationary ship loaders, more modern ship loaders can move along the terminal and reach both the inside and outside of the cargo hold, ensuring a more even distribution of cargo on top of the tank.

Iron Ore Ship Loader Types

The continuous ship loader needs a large amount of engineering construction investment. These ship loaders often working with fixed belt conveyors. We provide these following continuous ship loaders. The loading capacity can reach up to 6000t/h.

  • Rail-mounted ship loader
  • Rail-mounted linear ship loader
  • Rail-mounted radial ship loader
  • Rail-mounted slewing ship loader

In order to effectively reduce user infrastructure investment, we develop new mobile ship loaders. These mobile ship loaders can be mounted on tracks and wheels. We provide these mobile ship loaders. The loading capacity can reach up to 3500t/h.

  • Radial telescopic shiploader
  • All wheel travel ship loader
  • Cambered boom ship loader

Why to Use Movable Ship Loader?

Using a loading spout extension can help achieve the same results, whereas lifting a dozer or front-end loader onto the load may be necessary if no other options are available.

  • If loading is done via a stationary loader, the ship will need to be twisted along the dock to ensure that the cargo is evenly distributed in specific holds.
  • If loading is done via a mobile ship loader, the ship loader can move along the dock to reach the different hatch of ships.
  • Mobile ship loader can increase the loading efficiency.

The iron ore ship loading procedure and ship loader can meet the loading requirement of the following materials.

  • iron ore,
  • scrap iron,
  • Lead ore,
  • Copper ore
  • and other concentrates.
